DNV & GL Group merge confirmed

It is our pleasure to inform you that DNV and the GL Group have received final approval for our merger. The new company, DNV GL Group, will begin operations from September 12th, 2013.

DNV GL will be the world's largest ship classification society, a leading independent expert in oil and gas risk and maritime advisory services, a global energy technology powerhouse and a preeminent provider in renewables, power transmission and distribution. With over 17,000 highly skilled employees in more than 100 countries, DNV GL will have an expanded global presence, providing its customers around the world with technical experts offering world class services that exceed industry's expectations.

DNV GL's services will cover all ship types and will deliver the most advanced technical solutions for all new building projects. Ship owners will also be able to class their entire fleet with DNV GL.

The new head office of the DNV GL Group will be located in Oslo, with the maritime head office situated in Hamburg. DNV GL will survey over 13,000 ships on a regular basis and support the international offshore industry with classification and verification services.

DNV GL intends to take a broader view, offering a unique level of technical expertise and innovation to propel the maritime industry to become "Safer, Smarter and Greener".
